The goal is to not only train hard, have an amazing time in the sun, connect with amazing souls…but also to return home feeling rejuvenated.
It’s a moment to not just switch off and reboot but to have a full system upgrade.

I created Unbound because I couldn't find the kind of retreat I actually wanted to go to.
Most seemed to fall into one of two camps.
Train all day.
Or barely train at all.
i wanted to have both.
5 days where you could improve your Jiu Jitsu without making it your entire personality.
Where you could switch off without feeling like you're wasting time.
where good conversations matter as much as good training.
where you leave feeling both rested and energised.
that's what unbound is.
Not an escape from your life.
A chance to reconnect with the parts of it that matter most.

Afternoons are intentionally spacious.
Some days we'll have optional group activities such as boat trips, beach afternoons, or local adventures. Other days are left open so you can slow down, explore, or simply do nothing at all.
You might choose to:
Take a nap
Wander through town
Find a cute spot for lunch
Read a book
Journal
Spend the afternoon by the pool or beach

Just like the afternoons, the evenings vary throughout the week.
Some nights we'll come together for workshops, group dinners, or community activities. Other evenings are intentionally left open.
Maybe that means dinner with a smaller group, a sunset walk by the water, a long conversation that unexpectedly lasts for hours, or simply an early night.
there is no right way to do unbound.
The idea is to create enough structure that you feel inspired, and enough freedom that you can actually enjoy it.

Return airport transfers are included. Shared transfers based on everyone's arrival and departure times, so getting to and from the retreat is as easy as possible.

Every morning begins with a buffet feast with a rich selection of Cretan specialities, seasonal fruits and continental classics

Lunches and the other evening meals have been intentionally left open.
We'll share our favourite local recommendations, but we also want to leave room for a little spontaneity and adventure.

This will be planned once we’ve confirmed who’s coming! It will most likely be something fun like a boat trip :-)

Hi, I'm Sula. I spent most of my twenties chasing big goals through Jiu Jitsu. Somewhere along the way, I realised the best parts were rarely the medals. They were the people, the places, and the version of myself I became along the way.
I love Jiu Jitsu, but I also love slow mornings, good coffee, swimming in the ocean, deep conversations, and doing absolutely nothing for a few hours.

Bruno has a rare ability to make Jiu Jitsu feel simple. His coaching is calm, thoughtful, and rooted in fundamentals that actually work. He's the type of person who can fix a technique you've been struggling with for years by changing one small detail. Off the mats, he's equally valuable to learn from. He listens deeply, asks great questions, and often offers a perspective you hadn't considered. That's exactly why I wanted him as part of Unbound.

Strength & Mobility Coach
Mapule is my strength and conditioning coach and exactly the kind of person I want at Unbound. She's incredibly knowledgeable, but what really stands out is that she has a way of helping people feel confident, capable, and completely at ease.
Oh, and she's exceptionally qualified too. With a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and years of experience as a Strength & Conditioning and Nutrition Coach, she knows exactly how to help people build strength, move well, and look after their bodies for the long term.

Lia is the glue holding Unbound together. She's the person behind many of the small details that turn a good retreat into an unforgettable one.
What makes Lia so perfect for Unbound is that she has a rare ability to see what someone is capable of before they see it themselves and is often the person encouraging others to back themselves, think bigger, and stop waiting for permission.

Absolutely.
The retreat is open to all levels, including complete beginners.
While Jiu Jitsu is a part of the experience, this isn't a competition camp. The focus is on learning, connection, adventure, and enjoying the process.
Whether it's your first few months of training or you've been on the mats for years, you'll have plenty of opportunities to learn, challenge yourself, and get involved at a pace that feels right for you.

The training is designed to leave you feeling energised, inspired, and excited to train again, not completely drained.
We'll train enough to challenge you, help you improve, and earn that post-training high, while still leaving plenty of energy to enjoy everything else the retreat has to offer.
For those who love extra mat time, there will be opportunities to stay after sessions, drill, ask questions, or get some additional rounds in.
And if one day you'd rather skip a session, roll a little lighter, or simply enjoy a slower afternoon, that's completely fine too.
There is no expectation to do everything.
Some people will jump into every session and activity. Others will take a more relaxed approach.
Both are exactly how Unbound is meant to be experienced.

While there are plenty of opportunities to connect with others, there is never any pressure to be "on" all the time.
Many people come to Unbound because they want a balance of community and space.

Absolutely.
While Jiu Jitsu is a big part of the retreat, it's only one part of the overall experience.
We offer a non-training package that includes accommodation, meals, group activities, strength & conditioning sessions, and mindset workshops, making it a great option for partners who want to be part of the experience without stepping on the mats.
If they'd prefer a slower pace, they're also welcome to simply enjoy the accommodation, explore Crete, relax by the pool, visit the beach, or spend their days however they choose.
Many of the best parts of the retreat happen away from the mats, and we'd love for them to be part of it.

Absolutely.
Many people come on their own.
Inclusion isn't an afterthought at Unbound, it's one of our core values. We've intentionally designed the experience to make it easy to connect with others while still having space to yourself when you need it.
If you're coming alone, you definitely won't be the only one.

I've been to plenty of camps where every meal was included, and I found myself staying at the hotel simply because I'd already paid for the food. Looking back, I realised I barely experienced the place I had travelled so far to visit.
We want to encourage the opposite.
Some of the best moments happen when a small group wanders into town, finds a great little restaurant, or spends an extra hour by the beach before dinner.
We'll share our favourite local recommendations, but we also want to leave room for a little spontaneity and adventure.

There will be a blend of both! The plan is to do alternating days to give you a chance to wash your gi’s between the sessions. I'd recommend if you want to do this, to bring 2 gi’s.
If you prefer to prioritise one you totally can too, all the seminars will be mostly techniques that transfer across both and all the open mats are flexible so if you’d rather only spar one or the other you can!

Yes, we will arrange a laundry service so you don’t have to worry about bringing a whole weeks worth of training gear!

Yes. We offer payment plans, but the options available will depend on when you secure your deposit.
As all payment plans must be completed before the retreat begins, securing your spot earlier gives you access to more instalment options.
The later you book, the fewer instalments will be available.
If you’d like to do instalments please don’t pay below, contact me to let me know how many instalments you’d like to split it up by and I’ll send you a custom link.
